Facebook and Instagram Ads for Every Home Service Trade

We run Facebook and Instagram campaigns only for trade businesses. The audiences, the photos and the offer are built around your jobs, from before and after shots of a repaint to reminder ads for regular lawn mowing customers.

How Facebook Ads Work Differently From Google Ads

On Google, a customer types “carpet cleaner near me” and picks from the ads. On Facebook and Instagram, nobody is searching. People are scrolling past family photos and local news, so your ad has to stop them and give a reason to act.

That changes what works. A Google ad answers a question the customer already has. A Facebook ad starts the thought, so the photo, the first line and the offer carry the sale.

When Facebook suits your trade

  • The job is planned days or weeks ahead, like a bond clean, an interior repaint or new flooring.
  • The work shows well in a photo or short video, so a before and after tells the story.
  • Your service area is tight enough to target by suburb or by a radius around your base.
  • People visit your website and leave without booking, and you want them back.

For urgent work such as a burst pipe or a lockout, the customer searches first. There, Google Ads for home services usually reaches them sooner. Many owners run both through our paid ads management for home services, with Google, Facebook and Bing planned together.

What Our Facebook Ads Management Includes

Your campaigns are built and run in house by our paid ads specialists, never handed to a freelancer. This is what the work covers from week one.

01Objective and structure

Objective and campaign structure

We pick the objective, usually Leads, so Meta’s delivery system looks for people likely to enquire. Engagement campaigns chase likes and comments, which is why so many trade ads get attention and no calls.

02Tracking

Tracking you can trust

We install the Meta Pixel and the Conversions API, then test each event in Events Manager. A page view is never counted as a lead, so the numbers Meta learns from match real enquiries.

03Local audiences

Local audiences

We target your service area by suburb or radius. We build Custom Audiences from past visitors and customer lists, then test Lookalike Audiences that resemble the customers you already have.

04Copy and creative

Ad copy and creative testing

We write the copy and prepare images and short videos from your real jobs. Several versions run at once, and the ones that bring in enquiries get the budget.

05Ways to reach you

The right way to reach you

Each campaign sends people where they are most likely to act. That can be an Instant Form inside the app, a Messenger or WhatsApp chat, a call, or your website.

06Checks and reports

Weekly checks, monthly reports

We check campaigns each week, pause ads that waste money and refresh creative before people tire of it. Each month you see enquiries, cost per enquiry and jobs booked.

When leads go to your site, the page decides whether the click becomes a call. If yours is slow or hard to use on a phone, our website builds for trade businesses are made for that job.

Which Home Service Trades Get the Most From Facebook and Instagram

Results on Facebook depend more on the type of job than on the trade name. Three questions sort most businesses. Is the job planned? Does it look good in a photo? Will the customer need you again?

Take an end of lease cleaner in one metro area. Tenants often book a bond clean a week or two before they move out. A campaign can reach renters inside a set radius, show a before and after of a kitchen, and offer a quote through an Instant Form.

People who visit the website but don’t book then see a reminder ad in the days after. That follow up, called remarketing, keeps you in view while they compare quotes.

We have worked only with home service businesses since 2018, across 15 trades from cleaning and removals to pest control and pool care. The cards show how Facebook tends to fit each type of work.

Strong fit: planned, visual jobs

Painters, flooring, roofing and renovations, cleaning, pool and spa. A clear before and after photo does most of the selling in the feed.

Strong fit: repeat services

Lawn mowing, regular cleaning and pest control. Ads to past customers bring back routine work without paying to find those people again.

Good fit: one-off jobs with a quote

Removalists, rubbish removal and handyman work. Customers compare quotes over a few days, so remarketing keeps your name in front of them.

Weaker fit: emergency call outs

Locksmiths, emergency plumbing and electrical faults. The customer searches the moment it happens, so search ads come first and Facebook plays a support role.

How We Track Enquiries and Booked Jobs From Facebook

Meta reports on what it can see in its own apps and on your website. That leaves gaps, so we set up tracking in three layers.

  • The Meta Pixel records actions on your site, such as a quote form sent or a call button tapped.
  • The Conversions API sends the same events from the server, so fewer are lost when a browser blocks tracking.
  • Events Manager is where we check that each event fires once and means what it says.

Teaching Meta which leads turn into work

For Instant Form leads, Meta offers a performance goal called conversion leads. Your CRM sends each lead’s stage back to Meta, so delivery shifts toward people likely to become paying customers. Meta’s developer documentation for the Conversions API for CRM notes this goal works with Instant Forms only.

What the numbers will not show

Some people see your ad, then search your business name a week later and call. Meta will not count that job. We ask how each new customer found you and compare it with the ad data. Showing up for those later searches is the work of local SEO for home service businesses.

Setting Up Facebook and Instagram Ads, Step by Step

Most of the first month goes into setup and testing. This is the order we work in.

01

Access and goals

You add us as a partner on your Meta Business portfolio and ad account. We agree what counts as a result, such as a quote request, and your average job value.

02

Tracking

The Pixel and Conversions API go in, and every event is tested in Events Manager before any budget is spent.

03

Audiences

We map your service area by suburb or radius and build Custom Audiences from site visitors and, with your permission, customer lists.

04

Creative

You send photos and short videos from real jobs. We write several ad versions for each service you want to promote.

05

Launch and test

Budget is spread across a few ad sets at first. We watch delivery and cost per enquiry from the first days.

06

Optimise

Weak ads are paused, strong ones get more budget, and creative is refreshed before audiences tire of it.

07

Remarketing

Once traffic builds, a separate campaign follows up people who visited your site or opened a form but didn’t book.

08

Monthly report

You get enquiries, cost per enquiry, jobs booked and the plan for next month, with changes explained.

What we need from you

Fast replies matter most. A lead that waits a day will often book someone else. We also need honest feedback on lead quality and a note of which enquiries became jobs, because that is how the campaign gets better.

Facebook Ads management runs on a 3-month minimum, 30 days’ notice after that. Starting a new business with no website or ad account yet? Our start-up help for new home service businesses covers the setup first.

Questions Owners Ask About Facebook Ads for Their Trade

Do Facebook Ads work for home service businesses?

They work best for planned jobs that look good in photos, such as cleaning, painting, flooring and pool work. They also suit repeat services where past customers can be won back. For emergency call outs, people search first, so Google usually reaches them sooner. We will tell you on the first call which fits your trade.

Do Facebook Ads include Instagram?

They can. Facebook and Instagram are run from the same Meta Ads Manager account, with one budget and one set of audiences. You choose which placements a campaign uses, such as the Facebook feed, Instagram Stories or Reels. Running both is a setting inside the campaign, not a second campaign to pay for.

How much do Facebook Ads cost for a small business?

You set the daily or total budget, and Meta charges it to the payment method in your own ad account. What each enquiry costs depends on your trade, your area, the season and how well the ad and form are built. Management is a separate monthly fee, which we talk through on the consultation. It runs on a 3-month minimum, 30 days’ notice after that.

Why do my Facebook Ads get likes but no jobs?

The usual cause is the wrong objective. An Engagement campaign tells Meta to find people who like and comment, so that is what it delivers. Meta’s help page on ad objectives explains how each goal changes delivery. Other causes are broken tracking, an audience too wide for your service area, and slow replies to leads.

Can customers message me straight from the ad?

Yes. Click to message ads open a chat in Messenger or WhatsApp instead of sending people to a website. They suit jobs where the customer wants a quick answer, like “are you free Saturday?” You need someone to reply fast, during work hours at least, or the lead goes cold.

How long before Facebook Ads bring in enquiries?

Enquiries can start in the first week, but early costs move around. Each new ad set goes through a learning phase while Meta works out who to show it to, and big changes restart it. We treat the first month as setup and testing, then judge results on the months that follow.

Do I need a website to run Facebook Ads?

Not always. Instant Forms and message ads collect enquiries inside Facebook and Instagram. A website still helps, because the Pixel builds remarketing audiences from your visitors. Facebook Ads also sits alongside SEO and search ads in our wider digital marketing for home service businesses.
