SEO for Plumbers, Cleaners, Electricians and Other Trades

The right plan depends on how customers in your trade search and choose.

Emergency trades such as plumbers, electricians and locksmiths win calls from people who need help now. Map results, click-to-call and reviews matter most, so these trades usually start with Local SEO.

Booked-ahead trades such as cleaners, painters and flooring installers win work from people who compare three or four businesses. Reviews, clear service pages and location pages decide who gets the enquiry.

Wide-area trades such as removalists, rubbish removal and mobile services take jobs across many suburbs. They usually need Full-Scale SEO to cover every area.

What Our SEO Service Includes

Every plan starts with an audit of your Google Business Profile, your website and the businesses ranking in your suburbs. The work below then follows what the audit finds.

01Google Business Profile

Google Business Profile

We set your categories, services, service area and description. We also check that your business name, address and phone number match across directories. This profile drives your Google Maps results.

02Suburb keywords

Suburb keyword targeting

We pick the searches worth winning, such as blocked drain Parramatta or end of lease clean Fremantle. Each one is matched to the right page or profile.

03On-page and technical

On-page and technical SEO

We fix page titles, headings, internal links, site speed and mobile layout. We also fix redirects and error pages. Then Google can read your site and visitors can use it.

04Location pages

Location pages

Each area you serve gets a page with real local detail, such as the jobs you do there and the questions customers ask. We never copy one page and swap the suburb.

05Review strategy

Review strategy

We set up a simple process for asking happy customers for Google reviews, with message templates and guidance for replying to every review.

06Monthly reporting

Monthly reporting

You get rank tracking, Search Console queries and organic visits. You also get Google Business Profile calls and views. We set these beside the enquiries and jobs you tell us about.

Local SEO: How Google Picks the Businesses on the Map

Local SEO targets the map block that shows above the standard results. Google says local results rest mainly on relevance, distance and prominence.

Local SEO suits a trade that works inside a set area, such as an emergency plumber or a bond cleaner. If most of your jobs come from a handful of suburbs, start here. If you work from home, you can hide your address and show a service area instead.

Relevance and distance

Relevance is how well your profile matches the search, so we complete every category, service and description field. Distance is how far you are from the searcher. You cannot change that, and a closer competitor can still outrank you on some searches. What we do is set your service area and aim at the suburbs closest to you.

The most specific category

A common mistake is a broad primary category. A plumber listed as a general contractor matches fewer plumbing searches than one listed as a plumber, so we choose the most specific category first.

Prominence

Prominence is how well known you are. Google counts links from other websites, your review count and your ratings, so all three get steady work. Ask every happy customer soon after the job, send a direct link from your profile, and reply to every review.

Full-Scale SEO for Businesses That Serve a Whole City or State

Full-Scale SEO targets the standard results below the map. It suits trades that serve a whole city, a state or several services, such as a removalist or a roofing company. The goal is to rank your website for your trade, your services and many suburbs. It also targets the searches people make before they are ready to call.

Each month we publish blog content that answers customer questions, manage your Google Business Profile and send your report. If you run more than one trade, each trade is its own campaign, because each has its own customers and search terms.

Technical work comes first

Google lists site structure, redirects, error pages and page speed among the jobs an SEO does, in its guidance on hiring an SEO. If Google cannot crawl your site, better content will not help. A website built to turn visitors into calls also converts the traffic that SEO brings.

Real location pages

Next we build a location page for each area you serve. Google treats doorway pages, which are near-identical pages made to rank for similar searches, as spam. Every page we write carries local detail, such as the jobs you do in that suburb.

The order matters

We strengthen your main service pages first, then add location pages, because a suburb page needs a strong service page behind it.

What Happens in the First Three Months

Every SEO engagement has a 3-month minimum, then 30 days’ notice after that. The first three months cover the audit, the fixes and the first content, so you have enough data to judge the work.

You have a part to play. We need access to your Google Business Profile and website, your service areas and your best-paying job types. You ask customers for reviews and tell us which enquiries became jobs.

We measure the work by calls and jobs. Rankings are one part of that.

Audit

We check your Google Business Profile, website, directory listings and the businesses ranking for your suburbs.

Fix and set up

We correct profile details, page titles, headings and technical faults, and connect Search Console and analytics tracking.

Build

We add location pages, start your review process and, on Full-Scale plans, begin monthly blog content.

Report and adjust

Each month you get rank tracking, profile calls and views, and organic visits. We change the plan based on what moves.

SEO Questions From Home Service Business Owners

How long does SEO take to get more jobs?

It depends on your competition, your area and your starting point. Map results can move within weeks once your Google Business Profile and reviews improve. Website rankings usually take three to six months to show clear movement, and broad terms in large cities take longer. These are typical ranges, not promises. Because results build over time, we ask for a 3-month minimum so you have enough data to judge the work.

Can you guarantee a first page ranking?

No. Google says no one can guarantee a number one ranking, and it advises businesses to avoid SEOs who claim to. Many factors sit outside any agency’s control, including your competitors’ work and changes at Google. We commit to a defined scope of work and honest advice. You also get monthly reports on rankings, calls and jobs, so you can see what the work is doing.

What is the difference between Local SEO and Full-Scale SEO?

Local SEO works on your Google Maps presence: your Google Business Profile, suburb keywords, reviews and directory listings. It suits trades that serve a set area. Full-Scale SEO works on your website’s rankings in the standard results. It covers a wider set of terms and areas, and adds technical work, location pages and monthly blog content. The right start depends on where your biggest gap is, and the audit shows that.

I run Google Ads. Why would I also need SEO?

The two work separately. Google says advertising has no effect on your site’s presence in its search results, so ad spend will not lift your organic or map rankings. The reverse is also true: when you pause a Google Ads campaign, those clicks stop. Many businesses run SEO beside paid channels such as Facebook Ads for local jobs, so their enquiries do not depend on one source.

Does SEO work for a brand-new business?

Yes, but expect a slower start. A new business has no reviews, few links and a young website, so Google has little to judge. We begin with a complete Google Business Profile, a fast website and a review process from your first jobs. If you are still setting up, our start-up service for home service businesses builds those foundations with you.

What do I need to do during SEO?

You give us access to your Google Business Profile and website. You tell us the suburbs and job types you want more of, and you ask customers for reviews. You also let us know which enquiries turned into jobs. That last step matters most, because it lets us measure the work by jobs booked, not by rankings alone.

Can SEO work for my trade?

Ads Camps works with home service businesses in 15 trades. These include cleaning, plumbing, electrical, pest control, lawn mowing, removals, painting, roofing, flooring, HVAC, pool and spa, rubbish removal and locksmiths. We check search data for your trade and your suburbs before we recommend a plan.

Who will work on my SEO?

Our in-house team of 12 includes SEO strategists, developers and copywriters. They handle your audit, your fixes, your content and your monthly report. The same people work on your account each month, and none of the work goes to outside freelancers.
